Left Magnetic Island in the morning and headed further north to Mission Beach. In Townsville (that's where one goes to Magnetic Island from), I had the best Burger in Australia, at one of them pubs. Surprisingly enough.
Anyway, Mission Beach is a small place and quite nice. There was a table tennis in the backpacker (called "Scotty's"), which is always an added bonus.

Friday, July 6: Magnetic Island
Today was quite fun. We hired (sorry - "rented" - I guess I've been down under for too long) scooters for 25 bucks for the day and drove across the eastern part of the island. We went on a short walk to a fort that was built during World War II. Other than that I saw some wildlife - namely, small creatures that are like Kangaroos. I'm not sure what they were.
Upon returning to the backpacker, we ran into Gilad - an Israeli who had traveled with Nir in NZ, and whom I've met as well a few times. In the evening there was a party at the backpacker and as always it was most amusing watching some Brits get drunk and almost fighting it out (whatever "it" was - it really doesn't matter).

Thursday, July 5: Magnetic Island
It was quite amazing waking up and being too tired to do anything.. So I didn't even do Kayaking or snorkeling (both of which are included in a three day package I got). So I spent most of the day at the beach (which is like 50 meters from the dorm room). The Israeli girls showed up later in the day, and we hung out with them in the evening.
There was a power outage in the kitchen for a few hours. The reason I'm mentioning it is because it will serve to illuminate how "bright" the employees at this backpacker are. They called an electrician, who tool 5 or 6 hours to arrive from the mainland. I told them to simply use an extension cord and connect the fridges to an powered outlet. They refused to do so because of some reason I didn't understand. Eventually, the electrician showed up and it turned out that someone turned off the switch...
The hostel has a bar/party area, which was rather quiet. However, it was amusing meeting some folks from an American Aircraft carrier that had just arrived the previous day. One of them didn't want to talk to us because we're Israeli and we "don't help them". I'm still not sure what he meant by that. Another dude, on the other hand, was "honored" to meet us and was very proud at Israel and said he had wanted to join the IDF, but he is not Jewish, so it probably wouldn't have worked. Quite funny..

Wednesday, July 4: Airle Beach - Magnetic Island
Got on the bus at 9:30 and arrived to Townsville at 13:30. On the bus I met again a Sarah, whom I met on Fraser Island, and there were also a couple of Israeli girls I met the evening before. Apparently, everyone was headed to Magnetic Island.
Magnetic Island is a rather small island about 8 km in diameter roughly. I did't do much once I got to the island. We just had a bit of dinner with Sarah and some other girl who's name I can't remember and I'm not quite sure were I've met her. In fact, since Rainbow Beach (Fraser Island), I've been running into lots of people many times and I keep forgetting from where I know them (unless they are of particular interest..).

Tuesday, July 3: Airle Beach
Originally, we hoped to leave today, but because of some school holiday there was no room on the bus. Ultimately, that was a good thing, because there's no way I could have been on a bus after the night before. Anyway, so I spent most of the day at the Lagoon doing nothing. I met a huge group of Israelis, but didn't hang out with them too much.
We also met Gilad, who trvaled with Nir in NZ for a while. He is pretty nice and in the evening we all went out, which was quite fun and amusing...

Monday, July 2: Airle Beach
I returned from the Whitsundays cruise around 13:30. Then we (most of the folks from the cruise) went to the Lagoon, which is a much nicer place in Airlee Beach, than the beach itself...
The most intresting part was the evening when we went to a place called Reefo, where other people from other cruises went as well. It was a rather wild party.

Saturday - Monday, June 30 - July 2: Whitsundays
Whitsundays islands are a bunch of island of the coast from Airle Beach. They are quite lovely, and I'll say more about that in a sec.
We were 7 dudes, 9 gals, a skipper and a crewman on the boat called Tongarra. The weather throught was brilliant (a good compensation for Fraser Island) - absolutely no clouds in the sky. Additionally, I had been worried about being sea sick - but that fortunately was not a problem.
In general the whole experience was really nice, and the group of people was much better than Fraser Island. We also had a clown called Stevo...
A few words about the people. Among the girls there was one Israeli girl, whom Nir and I eventually dubbed "Gveret Timtemet" (for you non Hebrew speakers this means "Miss Stupid"). I believe that she is probably the most stupid person I've ever met! She was so dumb that she amused the hell out of us. One prime example of her stupidity was when she told people she "was afraid English might become her first language as she has been in Aussi for a few months". Well, normally this wouldn't be so dumb and funny, but in her case her English is so bad that it's comprable to Amir Peretz' English... There were a whole bunch of other examples, and when I have more time I might add some of those up here.
So here are some details:
Saturday: Got on the boat at 15:00. Most of the day was just sailing for several hours until we got to a place called Whitehaven Beach. Of course, it was dark so we couldn't see much until the next day. We spent the evening playing some drinking games (wasn't too exciting for me). Anyway, the English girl had a bit too much and threw up INSIDE the boat. It was quite spectacular...
Sunday: In the morning we went to Whitehaven beach which is probably the best beach I've ever seen with very fine white sand. After that we sailed to a small island where there we went on a small walk that ended up at a remarkably beautiful view point. Then we sailed a bit more and did some snorkeling, which was quite lovely, and would have been way bettter if I had brought my contact lenses...
Monday: We sailed to a resort island where we were only allowed on the beach. Apparently, they throw you in jail if you go deeper into the island. We also did some more snorkeling. Finally, we returned to Airle Beach at around 13:30.
